Melissa Joan is the daughter of Paula Hart, a talent manager and producer whose five daughters have all gone on to become actresses. Melissa, like many other child actresses, started her career in television advertisements. She then starred in the miniseries “Kane & Abel” in 1985. (1985). A year later, she co-starred alongside Katherine Helmond in the Emmy-winning television film “Christmas Snow” (1986). She came to fame in 1991 as the main actress in Mitchell Kriegman’s adolescent comedy “Clarissa Explains It All” (1991–1994). Melissa Joan received three Young Artist Awards, and the series was nominated for an Emmy Award. Melissa went to university when the series ended, but she had to leave school since she was cast in another main role in the television series “Sabrina the Teenage Witch” (1996–2003), which earned her three Young Artist Awards and two Kid’s Choice Awards.
