She is best known as the author of the ‘alphabet series,’ which includes novels such as “A” Is for Alibi and other titles that follow private detective Kinsey Millhone in the fictitious California city of Santa Teresa. She is the daughter of mystery writer C. W. Grafton, and she has said that the author Ross Macdonald has had the greatest impact on her crime books. She has previously written scripts for television movies before finding success with this series.
